Sorry for the lack in posts recently! I have been enjoying the weekend with my family at the Tides Inn on the Rappahannock River, just off the Chesapeake Bay. 
We cruised up here yesterday on my parents’ boat and have been staying in the marina. It is a beautiful location and very relaxing. We had a delicious dinner last night – I thoroughly enjoyed the crab cakes. This morning I went running with my dad, and I must say I’ve definitely become spoiled by the cool California summers. Today the high is going to be 98 here and it was probably close to 90 when we set out. Not to mention the humidity! I could feel the heat affecting my run, but luckily there was a nice breeze and the trees along the road created some shade. My dad assured me that running in the heat is the best kind of training for the marathon. I’m not too sure about that 🙂
It has been wonderful spending time with my family – although I wish my husband were here too! I miss Cali terribly, but my sweet husband has allowed me to Skype with them while I have been gone. It’s a bit silly, I know, but I love being able to see her, even though she has quite a confused look on her face when she hears my voice. I’ve been able to love on Honey, our family dog who we got when I was 16, since I’ve been home. She is 13 now and just as sweet as ever. She loves spending time on the boat with our family. She preferred not to have her picture taken for the blog.
Well, I’m off to have lunch on the back of the boat and enjoy this view:
